Polarity Therapy Vol II helps to expand on Dr Stones theories from Vol I as well as introduce other theories. It can be somewhat complex and a little confusing at times, but Dr Stone was before his time. Many Polarity practitioners are still interpreting his work. This book shows relationships of elements as well as principles of the energetic fields within the body. I feel this book is suited for practitioners who have experience with Polarity or someone who wants to marvel at Dr Stones' insightful thoughts and theories.
I purchased this book through Amazon as used and in good condition for $16.19 +shipping of $3.99. It was in great condition and but delivery from Amazon took 3 weeks. Hope this helps.

About the Author

Professor Sunil Kumar Talapatra has taught stereochemistry, conformational analysis, reaction mechanisms and alkaloids in the postgraduate classes of Calcutta University (CU) and Presidency College (now University), Kolkata for more than three decades, and has been teaching stereochemistry for the last three decades in some other universities of W. Bengal and Tripura as a Guest teacher. He did PhD (CU) and post-doctoral work with Professor (Mrs) Asima Chatterjee and then post-doctoral work (4 yr) with Professor Michael P Cava at OSU, Columbus. Professor Talapatra's research contributions include the discovery, structure elucidation and stereochemistry of more than 100 new bioactive secondary metabolites (from medicinal plants), mostly alkaloids and terpenoids of different classes, coumarins and other polyphenolics, cardiac glycosides,�one�new C26��tetracyclic�diamine�from a marine�sponge, synthesis and mechanisms. He was a Visiting Scientist at the Illinois U (Chicago), UCSC, and UCSD. As a UNESCO Senior Visiting Scientist (1982) he was briefly associated with Professors E J Corey, K Nakanishi, H Rapoport, J Meinwald, N Takahashi and Y Kanaoka. He participated in many International Conferences held worldwide. He supervised numerous PhD students and post-doctoral Fellows who joined Universities, IITK, Research Institutes, Colleges, and pursued their own teaching and research careers. The author of more than 175 research papers and a recipient of several awards, he was a British Council Guest Visitor (1973) in UK, under INSA and UGC Cultural Exchange Programmes in Hungary and Czechoslovakia and was elected FRIC (London) in 1974, President of the Indian Chemical Society (2002 & 2003), and has been a Vice-President of the Indian Science News Association since 2008.

Professor Bani Talapatra has taught natural products chemistry at Calcutta University (CU) for more than three decades, and in some other universities of W. Bengal and Tripura as a Guest teacher for more than a decade. She also taught general chemistry in a local undergraduate college for several years during her early professional career. She obtained the D.Sc. degree of the CU working in the laboratory of Professor (Mrs) Asima Chatterjee and then joined a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Vanderbilt University (VU) with the renowned microbiologist, Professor V. Najjar. At VU she had the privilege of coming in personal contact with Sir C K Ingold for few months (1964) when she learnt from him much about organic reaction mechanism. As a UNESCO Senior Visiting Scientist�(in 1976 and 1983) she extensively travelled and visited many major universities of USA, Europe, and Japan and was briefly associated with Professors H. Rapoport, S Masamune, W Herz, W Parker, F Bohlmann, H. Wagner, W. Kraus and N. Takahashi. She also participated in a number of International Conferences in Europe, South-East Asia and India. Professor Talapatra’s research interests include various aspects of natural products chemistry including terpenoids, alkaloids, polyphenolics, and reaction mechanisms. She has published more than 130 research papers and 15 students have obtained a PhD degree of the CU under her guidance.

In the last years ellipsometry has gained an important place in material science, due to the possibility of measuring optical properties of materials.

In this book the authors give a complete overview of this technique, starting from the principles of polarized light up to a deep threatment of ellipsometry (theory and applications) and its unique features in the field of surface and thin films phenomena.

A book that must be in a serious library of solid state physics, optics and physical chemistry.

Unique in its kind

This book is a very good guide of how to use ellipsometry to probe interfaces and thin films (one can measure film thicknesses with an outstanding resolution). It shows that the simple fact that a change in the polarization of light can be a good probe for several systems (such as film growth and liquid-liquid interfaces). Contextualising text

There's a lot of ground to cover in Eng Lit: 'sweeping across two millennia and every literary genre', as the inside flap promises. For a while, it seems as though the need to cram everything in might be the book's undoing - even though at 167pp it's one of the longer Shorts. Such worries are premature: analysis comfortably outweighs potted literary history.

For me, it isn't the chapter on Shakespeare (Bate's specialism) that forms the book's highlight, but the last two, on the novel and on multicultural English. In the first of these, the development of the 'stream of consciousness' in such novels as Ulysses and Orlando is considered in relation to recent work in brain science. As with The Genius of Shakespeare, therefore, Bate shows a willingness to look beyond the confines of his own subject in order to understand it more fully. And in his concluding chapter, entitled The Englishness of English Literature?, Bate examines a diversity that has characterised the literature of the British Isles since even the pre-modern, pre-mass immigration era, with its sharp political, religious and social divisions.

Witty as well as thought-provoking, the book is itself literary (I noted homage to EM Forster and Blake, and doubtless missed other instances) in a way that will probably appeal to those who are 'in' without annoying those who aren't. It is also wide-ranging, up to date and perceptive (Coleridge and Hazlitt are seen as the originators of opposing 'formalist' and 'historicist' schools of criticism). With so much to commend it, we might even excuse its rather sniffy attitude to the on-line review - the 'free-for-all ... in which everyone is a critic'. Bate does, after all, concede that such electronic chat may just be an extension of the democratisation that began in the C18 coffee house.

Ultimately, therefore, one of the more inspired and inspiring VSIs.

An Incredible Story That Turns Out to Be Very Close to Reality

In August 2008, The New Yorker published a true story by David Grann called "The Chameleon" about a twenty-year-old Frenchman, Fr�d�ric Bourdin, who pretended to be a missing teen, Nicholas Barclay, in San Antonio, Texas. Despite Bourdin's French accent and his lack of resemblance to Nicholas, the teen's family welcomed him with open arms, raising questions about their involvement in Nicholas' disappearance.

This story inspired Ted Staunton to write Who I'm Not. In the book, a nameless and parentless teen has been taken on by a con man who uses him to further his schemes to steal money from unsuspecting people. At this time, the teen has been to so many foster homes and has been impersonating so many different people that he doesn't remember his own name, let alone his birthday. When his mentor dies in an accident, he decides to impersonate Danny Dellomondo, a missing kid in Port Hope, Ontario. The book details how the teen manages to trick Danny's family into believing the missing child is back. But by the end of Who I'm Not, you will be wondering who was conning whom.

If it wasn't based on a true story, I would have thought that the book was too far-fetched and would have dismissed it as too unbelievable. As it is, it turns out to be a fast-paced and highly entertaining story. However, I thought that Ted Staunton followed Fr�d�ric Bourdin's real life story a little bit too closely, and it somewhat spoiled the book for me. The ending is quite different from what happened in real life though, which is good.

Good Teen Mystery/Thriller

I had never heard of Canadian author Ted Staunton until I noticed he was one of the authors in the "Seven" series that I am currently reading. When I noticed this book, his name caught my eye and the plot reminded me of a previous book I'd read plus some true cases I'd heard of though this sounded like a different take on the return of a kidnapped child and I was intrigued. Going into an author for the first time one never knows what to expect and I found myself hooked by the first chapter. "Danny' for want of a better name, is a street-smart, cocky kid, a born con-man and yet from the beginning we sympathise with him not only because of his rough life but because he is a genuine person under the veneer. We understand what he gets out of his dupe and wonder, just like him, what else is going on here; is he being duped himself? Danny is way in over his head and the story becomes quite the intense mystery/thriller with a shocking tragic ending which comes totally out of nowhere. Not how one usually expects a YA novel to end. I found the writing to be brilliant, it kept me glued to the pages, the story was impressive and there was no writing down to the audience just because the main characters were teen-aged. This is quite readable by teens and adults alike. Staunton seems to have written mostly books for younger audiences to date and I'd certainly like to see more of this calibre from him. Good realistic teen fiction suspense!

Based on a real person.

After spending his early years shuffling between foster homes, 15-year-old Danny is sold to a con artist. He and Harley spend years on the road where he learns to lie, cheat, steal and scam others. Despite not knowing his own name or birthday, life with Harley is better than what he’d endured in the past so he doesn’t complain.

When Harley is killed in the midst of one of their cons, Danny is in danger of being sent back to what he called the Bad Time. At a youth shelter he gets the idea to take on the identity of Danny Dellomondo, a boy who’d disappeared from his home in Canada three years earlier. Despite not even looking like the real Danny, he is accepted by the family. He manages to nervously fit in while finding a bit of romance with another troubled teen named Gillian.

It doesn’t take long before one of the detectives assigned to the Dellomondo case appears to be suspicious. Danny will have to call on all the scammer tricks in his arsenal if he expects to not wind up in the Bad Time once again.

Interestingly Staunton based this book on a real person who pretended to be a missing teen in 1997, detailed in “The Chameleon” by David Grann.

Recommended for readers aged 14 and older, especially reluctant readers.
