About the Author
Prisca Augustyn is an Associate Professor of German and Linguistics at Florida Atlantic University, where she has been in charge of German since 2002. Prisca teaches courses in German, linguistics, and semiotics. Her interest in how we form subjective models of the world through language informs not only her research in linguistics/semiotics, but finds expression in the development of teaching materials and methods for the classroom. She and her co-author Nikolaus Euba (University of California, Berkeley) recently finished the third edition of Stationen, a textbook for intermediate German.
Selected as the AATG 2013 Post Secondary Outstanding Educator, Nikolaus Euba holds an M.A. degree in "Deutsch als Fremdsprache" from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universit�t in Munich. Before coming to California, he taught and coordinated German courses at Miami University (Ohio) and the University of South Carolina. At Berkeley, he directs the German Language Program and mentors the Graduate Student Instructors who teach language courses. His research interests focus on integrating (literary) texts into foreign language teaching and learning, a topic on which he frequently develops workshops and gives presentations. He is a consultant to the College Board's AP program in German and to the National Evaluation Series (NES). After having directed and taught numerous summer study workshops in Heidelberg, Jena, and Berlin, he now coordinates the language program at FUBiS (Freie Universit�t Berlin in the Summer). He is a recipient of the Star Award for Excellent Service to the Student Community (1998), of the Mortar Board Excellence in Teaching Award (2001) and of UC Berkeley's Faculty Award for Outstanding Mentorship of GSIs (2007).

Intentions

I only bought a brand new book because I thought it would have the online access card with it, one that has never been used. I was disappointed when it didn't come with one at all. The back cover of the book directs you to the website where you have to buy it separate. Amazon should put it up somewhere that it doesn't come with online access before students drop all that money.

A fine textbook

It's a fine textbook. If you're looking at this page, it probably means you're required to buy it for your class anyway, so I doubt any review will have any impact on your decision. Grammar lessons are consice, and texts are interesting. As with most textbooks however, this book is way too expensive, especially considering it's not even a hardcover.

NO QUIA CARD!!!!!

The book is fine, and and it even came with a big orange sticker on the front that says "multivolume set do not separate" which i'm assuming to mean that at one point a quia card was intended to be paired with it, but there is no card at all. no code at all. rip off. i could've bought this from my local student store, gotten it new and the card included for what it's going to cost me to have to purchase the semester on quiz separately plus this book. I would've preferred to be scammed locally rather than support an outsourced business.
just horrible.
